This elegant kitchen and dining space was designed to balance classical detailing with bold contemporary accents, creating an interior that feels both timeless and expressive. Rich plum cabinetry, polished stone surfaces and sculptural lighting combine to introduce depth, character and individuality throughout the space, whilst softer neutral tones help maintain a sense of balance and refinement.

Designed for entertaining as much as everyday living, the scheme brings together bespoke joinery, statement materials and carefully considered architectural detailing to create a kitchen with a strong visual identity and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

The Brief

The client wanted to create a luxurious family kitchen that felt distinctive and characterful whilst remaining elegant and practical for daily use. The brief focused on introducing richer colour tones and statement lighting within a traditionally inspired space, whilst ensuring the kitchen remained open, sociable and highly functional for entertaining.

Design Overview

Concept

A contemporary interpretation of a classic family kitchen, combining traditional framed cabinetry with expressive colour, sculptural lighting and polished natural materials.

Atmosphere

Elegant, vibrant and inviting, balancing softer neutral finishes with rich plum tones, reflective surfaces and dramatic statement lighting throughout the space.

Materials

A layered palette of painted cabinetry, polished marble surfaces, mirrored detailing and textured wall finishes creates depth and visual richness across the kitchen and dining areas.

Lighting

Feature lighting plays a defining role within the scheme, with sculptural chandeliers creating a strong focal point above both the dining table and island. Natural light from the large arched openings helps soften the richer material palette, allowing the space to feel bright and open throughout the day.

The Joinery

At the centre of the kitchen sits a large bespoke island finished in deep plum cabinetry and polished stone surfaces, designed to encourage gathering, entertaining and everyday family use. Curved detailing and reflective metal elements introduce a more contemporary edge whilst complementing the overall architectural feel of the room.

The perimeter cabinetry combines soft neutral painted finishes with more traditional framed detailing, helping to balance the richness of the central island and feature chimney breast. Bespoke glazed cabinetry within the dining area provides elegant display storage, contributing to the overall sense of symmetry and refinement throughout the space.

Every element of the joinery was carefully considered to create a kitchen that feels both highly functional and visually expressive, balancing practicality with statement design.
