Manor House

Project Overview

This bespoke kitchen project was designed to create a timeless family space that balances classic craftsmanship with refined contemporary detailing. The design combines elegant painted cabinetry, rich timber surfaces and carefully selected accents to deliver a kitchen that feels both warm and sophisticated while remaining highly practical for everyday living.

At the heart of the space is a substantial statement island designed for gathering, cooking and entertaining, complemented by handcrafted joinery and subtle architectural detailing throughout.

The Brief

The client wanted a welcoming and characterful kitchen that would feel connected to the architecture of the home while offering modern functionality and generous entertaining space.

The brief centred around creating a bright, elegant environment with a strong sense of craftsmanship, incorporating traditional design references alongside cleaner contemporary elements. A large sociable island was essential, alongside a striking range cooker setting and layered material palette that would introduce warmth, texture and depth.

Design Overview

Concept

A timeless handcrafted kitchen combining classic painted cabinetry with warm natural materials and refined contemporary detailing.

Atmosphere

Bright, calm and inviting, with rich tonal contrast between the soft white perimeter cabinetry and deep navy island creating visual balance and sophistication.

Materials

Painted timber cabinetry, solid oak worktops, natural stone surfaces, aged brass hardware and handmade patterned tiles work together to create a layered and tactile interior.

Palette

Soft whites and muted neutrals are contrasted with deep navy cabinetry and warm timber tones, while brass accents introduce warmth and subtle luxury throughout the space.

The Joinery

The kitchen features bespoke in-frame cabinetry with traditional moulded detailing and carefully proportioned classic styling. Curved corner cabinetry softens the overall composition while enhancing the handcrafted nature of the space.

The central island forms the focal point of the kitchen, finished in a rich navy tone and topped with substantial solid oak work surfaces that introduce warmth and texture. The island incorporates generous storage, integrated open shelving and an oversized seating area designed for informal dining and entertaining.

A sculptural curved pedestal detail beneath the seating area creates a distinctive architectural feature while maintaining visual softness and elegance.

The range cooker area is framed by a bespoke mantel with decorative corbels, creating a traditional focal point enhanced by the patterned blue tiled splashback. Brass hardware and cup pulls provide a refined finishing layer, complementing both the cabinetry and timber surfaces.

Throughout the space, symmetry, proportion and material balance create a kitchen that feels both luxurious and comfortable, designed to age beautifully over time.
